Funding Information

Competition for fellowships (Graduate Assistantships [GA's]) is keen. For the upcoming 2007-2008 academic year* full stipends will be as follows:

Students with a B.A. -- $18,817.50, plus tuition waiver and health insurance**

Students with a M.A. -- $19,800.11, plus tuition waiver and health insurance**

* Please note that these are for the nine months of the academic year: see Graduate Assistant Payroll information for further details. Also, Ph.D. students who have passed their preliminary examinations receive a stipend increase.

** There is a monthly fee for health insurance, which is taken from the monthly stipend: see Graduate Assistant Health Insurance information for further details.

Full stipends, listed above, are paid for teaching one four-credit section of composition or the equivalent, as determined by the Program. Frequently, we are able to offer half GA's, in which stipend rates are halved (tuition waivers and health insurance remain the same), and students teach the equivalent of one 3-credit class.
